Steve established Strand Tennis to create a close community that generates excitement for improving players’ on-court skills and overall fitness. Steve brings more than twenty years of teaching experience. He was formerly a nationally ranked junior and NCAA Division I tennis player. He won the State Team championship as a High School Freshman as well as being a First Team All-State selection. In addition to his own extensive training, he is dedicated to developing players and growing interest in the game of tennis. In Steve’s spare time, you’ll find spending time with his family and his bulldogs.

Alex is a USPTA certified professional with fifteen years of teaching experience. Ranked as high as number twelve in the eighteen and under age division of the Eastern Tennis Association. Played USTA national tournaments. Recruited by NCAA Division I schools including Colgate University and Lehigh University. Competed on USTA Satellite Circuit. Featured in numerous editions of Tennis Magazine’s instructional series.

Chris has twenty years of playing experience. He was the 2001 NJ high school State Champion and continued on to play NCAA Division I tennis. His favorite concept to teach on the court is doubles strategy and situational play. He helps all his players have a better understanding of the game, shot selection and overall growth. When Chris is not on the court, you’ll find him watching sports and relaxing with his dogs.

John coaches the New Providences High School Boys’ Varsity Tennis and Madison High School Girl’s Varsity Tennis. Both teams have won 8 Sectional Championships and 3 overall State Championships. John was the 2012 State High School Coach of the year by Star Ledger and 2011 Coach of the Year by Daily Record. John would like to see his players achieve a lifelong love and passion for the game. When off the court, John enjoys his music and spending time with friends.

Chris has thirteen years of playing experience and 6 years of teaching experience. Emphasizing fluid singles and doubles movement, Chris aims for beginner players to achieve a quick rallying ability and for advancing players to challenge themselves with match play. When Chris is not on the court, you’ll find him in search of vintage blues records to add to his collection.

Rayni has been playing tennis for 49 years (but don’t tell anyone!). She was a Division I player and a nationally ranked junior. Winner of Girls Nationals in 1974, and ranked no. 1 singles & doubles. Rayni has played all 4 majors (Wimbledon, French Open, U.S. Open and Australian Open). She was the runner up in the French Open Ladies Doubles in 1977 and Quarter-finalist in Mixed Doubles at the U.S. Open in 1980. When on court with you, she loves to teach the Volley, so be ready.

Doryan has been playing tennis for over 35 years. She played Division I tennis at Providence College. She is currently the Varsity Tennis Coach at Oak Knoll in Summit. She tries to play doubles as much as possible when she isn’t busy with her three children.
